Balancing Acts

Do you find it difficult to balance all that there is to manage in your life?

Me, too.

  1. Mother
  2. Daughter
  3. Sister
  4. Friend
  5. Writer / Editor
  6. Life Coach
  7. Head of Household
The list could go on but I've distilled it down to the most important aspects of my life.

7 hats to wear.  7 balls to juggle and keep in the air.  7 chances to feel a sense of accomplishment.  7 chances to feel like a failure.  Ahhh, the joys of multi-tasking.

I have taken some much-needed time off from being online so much, as I said in my previous post, so that I can be fully present for these few, precious, quickly-passing days while my child is still so small and desirous of my time and attention.  Soon enough I will have all the time in the world to be online because he will want to be with his friends more than with his old lady of a mama.  For now, while his eyes light up when he sees me, I want to bottle that light, pull it out of my heart when times get dark, and remember that while learning to achieve balance in one's life is a great achievement, there is also great value in setting down all the balls, if possible, and just concentrating on the one or two that are of most value to you in your life.  Women, mothers especially, want to "have it all", but sometimes we already do, and all we had to do was distill our lives down to the very essence of what matters most to recognize that.

So, yes, I have been off line for a while. . . and I may have lost the connection to some of my online friends . . . but the connection that I am cementing with my boy is priceless to me, and because I have pressed pause on my juggling too much the simplicity of our Summer thus far has been too sweet for words.

What do you do to balance all that your life requires of you?  My balancing act this Summer has been to not balance much of anything at all, and it's working splendidly.  See?

On Hiatus

Hello Friends,

As you can clearly tell, Single Mama NYC is on a bit of a break. I decided to pull back from being so engaged online so that I can spend these summer months being fully present and in the moment with my boy. He will be 5 in September and the time is passing by too quickly for my personal taste.

Hope your summer has been amazing thus far!

With love,
Issa
