For your bravery during BOTH World Trade Center bombings, for your 35 years of service as a law enforcement officer, and for your tireless efforts to be the best dad and grandpa possible, I offer you all of my love, my pride, and my gratitude. Thank you for always trying your hardest to truly be there for others. You are my hero in more ways than I can list.

Thank you for this. I honor your daddy too. After reading your tweets about him going into the building people were fleeing, I not only had chills, but I had absolute respect.
If this were a FB post, I'd be hitting the "like" button.
I know that platitudes sometimes hurt more than they help, so I'll avoid saying things about heroism and bravery (I'm sure your father has heard them and there is no doubt his actions were both brave and heroic).
I do want to say that it's a human experience to wonder why we were chosen to be the brave ones at so dear a personal cost. It's human to wonder why we were chosen to keep living. (I use "chosen" loosely here, meaning just that we're the ones left standing). But that doesn't mean thinking those things equals a sort of betrayal. Your father lives through an experience we can only begin to imagine. The fact that he continues to persevere despite misgivings and what-ifs is the true inspiration.
Thank you to your daddy from me as well.
