| Theo and I, November 2007 |
Sometimes, when things get dark, heavy, or scary, when circumstances conspire to break you, the only thing that can get you through is the love that you have for your child. I am so grateful that the love I have for my Theo sees me through any and all pain. While it might not be enough to make me invincible, while I may still hurt and cry, my love for my baby will make it so that I will never stop fighting, never give up, never back down. I love him more than I love anything else in this world, even more than I love running away from pain. I will face anything if it means taking care of my boy, giving him the love and security he needs, and providing him with a foundation that will serve him well for the rest of his life.
Here's to the single mamas out there that wake up every day, knowing the day may bring hardships, and face the day anyway, because a mother's love trumps all.

Thank you for this. I think being a mom, and a single mom particularly, has made me a stronger and better woman. I have learned so much about myself.
Theo's smile is infectious.

Yes, yes, & yes. I have a hard time, especially during the holidays being a single mom, even though I have achieved so much, I still feel so behind. But, my love for my daughter is what keeps me going. For when all else fails, my love for her burns strong.
I did not realize just how strong I really was until the last few months. Being a single mother is not easy. I have had good days and bad. I have felt lonely, angry, depressed amoung many other feelings. But when I see my little girl smile, when she hugs me or tell me she loves me it makes everything worthwhile. Thank you for this great post!
Amen to this post and the accompanying comments! Let's all celebrate how far we have made it ladies and the wonderful children that have helped us become the women we are today! :)
