Wishing You A Very Curious Thanksgiving!

I was one of "those moms" who delayed exposing her kid to media early on.  He only just started watching TV last year (and he's 4 now), and I waited until this year until letting him see his first full-length film.  For his first film ever I chose Curious George and I am really glad that I did.  Wholesome, extremely appropriate, sweet, and funny (not to mention not at all scary), Curious George was the best choice I could've made for Theo's first film-watching experience.  We became big Curious George fans in my house, and now that he watches TV he loves the sow on PBS KIDS as well.

This Wednesday, November 23, PBS KIDS will feature the broadcast premiere of the original Curious George movie, which will air as part of the CURIOUS GEORGE Holiday Spectacular.  The Holiday Spectacular will be a three-movie on-air event that will kick off with Curious George, featuring the voices of Will Ferrell, Drew Barrymore and Dick Van Dyke, as well as the music of Jack Johnson, followed by Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey, and then Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas. Encore presentations of the Holiday Spectacular will air on PBS KIDS throughout Thanksgiving weekend.

I'm happy about this because I know that before (and after) we watch some of the MACY'S Thanksgiving Day Parade, we will be able to sit back, have a cuddle on the sofa, and watch an old favorite of ours as well as get excited about watching two movies that will be new for us, and that I am sure we will love.  The great thing about the Holiday Spectacular being a marathon is that if we miss any of the movies because of interacting with company and eating delicious food, we can be certain that they will play again at some point so that we won't miss the Curious George fun.

If your family are Curious George lovers, be sure to check your local listings to see which PBS station in your area will be offering this family-friendly marathon.

And as always, I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving - from my family to yours!

*PBS KIDS revealed their upcoming Holiday Spectacular event at a media luncheon at which I was in attendance.  No compensation was provided to me to share this information with the readers of this blog.
