Being A Mobile Mama Is Now So Much Easier For Me

Jabra's PR firm invited bloggers to a luncheon at the fabulous Tom Collichio's Craft restaurant to learn about the newest innovations in Bluetooth headsets. I personally had an unsatisfactory experience with Bluetooth headsets from another brand (noisy New York City streets kept me and my callers from being able to hear each other), and so wasn't hopeful that I'd be won over. Well, I was wrong (yes, see, I can admit when I'm wrong!).

One of my biggest issues in staying connected to people that matter is that Theo and I are out and about a lot, and when my cell phone rings while I'm pushing his stroller, I often have to ignore the call because it is so difficult to hold a cell phone between your ear and your shoulder as you push a stroller with both hands. Just as hard is holding the phone with one hand while you try to push a Maclaren with the other. Not fun. Theo and I often walk / stroll for very long distances, somes a mile or two a day, so it just doesn't work for me to have conversations during that time. The problem is that I always seem to get calls during that time and when I ignore the calls I tell myself tha I'll call back after Theo goes to sleep, which rarely happens because I'm either working on something I'm writing or I'm passed out in a coma the second I get Theo down for the night. You can see how this puts a damper on my social life.

At the Jabra event, we got to learn all about the new advances in Bluetooth technology, and how Jabra is at the forefront of making these devices easier for us all.  I'm not a tech moron by any means, but I'm definitely not a tech geek by any standards either.  Having devices that are both high-quality and easy to use is important for me, and for most moms, since we don't have forever to read instruction manuals.  The Jabra devices they showed us were simple to operate, easy to pair with your cell phone and best of all, actually worked in the noisy city streets of New York!  I tried both the Jabra Stone and Extreme on my way home from the event and they worked beautifully!  The Extreme headset is supposed to be the one that cancels out all that interfering background noise the best, but let me tell ya, the Stone didn't do so bad either.  Besides the Stone and the Extreme, they also have a headset called the Halo, which is amazing.  With the Halo, you can listen to your music in quality definition on your mobile phone/mp3 device, and when you get a call, the music stops, you get to answer your call, and when you hang up, the music returns!  This is super great for all you mamas who go to the gym to work out.  I can't tell you how excited I am about this; I will actually get some of my social life back now (at least my "phone" social life; my "going out" social life is probably beyond resuscitation), but when people call me while I push Theo in his stroller, I can actually answer the call!  This is going to be great.

For all you Mobile Mamas out there, pushing those strollers and ignoring your cell phone calls until you get back into your houses, trust me, a Jabra headset will change everything.

I really need one today I was carrying Put Pie on my hip, pushing the stroller with one hand, and the phone rang. I didn't have any spare hands. I'm also unbelievable bad at calling people back. If I don't get the call when it comes in, chances are I won't get around to calling back.
