Dieting

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

Lol, does that accurately convey how I feel about the subject? I've realized that since getting let go from my job in September I have put on weight. FIFTEEN POUNDS, to be exact. Ugh. So, here I am, back on my South Beach Diet plan. After I went back to work after having Theo, I went on NutriSystem, which worked really well for me. Theo was only 4 months old and not eating solid foods yet so I didn't have to cook for him, and after working a full eight hours a day, going to pick up my son from the sitter, coming home and getting us settled, all I had the time and energy for was popping a meal in the microwave for a minute. These days though, my little guy is 19 months old, eating grown-up solid foods, and I am responsible for cooking real meals for the both of us. Plus, the NutriSystem meals would be an added expense that I just can't afford now that I'm not working. So, I am preparing low carb meals for us both and then adding carbs to his plate (like brown rice, pasta, or a slice of whole wheat bread which he LOVES. Of course he loves bread, he's my child). It's only been a week but so far, so good.

Today I also started doing a Crunch Fat-Burning Pilates DVD, which I have to say, was pretty great. All the aerobic cardio work had Pilates components to it so while you worked up a sweat (which I definitely did), you were also toning up. Twenty-five minutes of that, then it's down on the mat for traditional Pilates mat work. Challenging like crazy, but left me feeling great afterwards. I'm not sure if it was the actual workout, or if it was the feeling like I had finally accomplished something important I hadn't done in ages (working out), that made me feel good, but either way it was a great energy boost. And I need all the energy boosts I can get -- I've been feeling very lethargic lately, and I can't have that. I have a very energetic little boy to raise.

So, friends, wish me luck. My goal is to achieve a higher level of fitness, strength, and yes -- to become a little bit of a Hot Mama too. Why not? Even though I don't feel ready to date yet, I can look good for myself, can't I?
